I came in with a super sore throat so red I could barely swallow along with a cough that has kept me up all night for a few days now and expressed to Dr. Gray I was going on a plane the next day with severe congestion and I was concerned about the pressure changes and my ears. I've flown with a sinus infection before and it is extremely uncomfortable for me and everyone around me. She said since my illness was viral, there was nothing they could do and didn't even suggest over the counter remedies. She prescribed benzonatate which made my cough worse. I work in the medical field and understand the opioid crisis better than most as I sell equipment to help fight the opioid crisis, and I understand the reservation to over prescribe opioids, but the medication is relevant and necessary in some cases. I asked for a prescription for tussionex and she refused which was very frustrating when you're sick and in severe pain and pay money to see a doctor and are offered no solution. She prescribed Cheratussin the next day when I called after I basically begged for something other than pills that made my cough worse. The nurse was pessimistic every time I called, saying "she's not going to do it, I'll ask but I doubt it, you can come in but you're just going to get told the same thing" without offering any solution other than throat lozenges and salt rinse. This nurse knows nothing about my visit or history and I find it irresponsible to tell a patient what a doctor is going to say without having more than a 2 minute phone conversation about what's going on with me. Also, Dr. Gray would never talk to me directly. It was always fielded through the nurse, which was also very annoying as I knew Dr. Gray was sitting right beside her (I could hear her).

I then paid $40 for an e-visit through Baylor Scott and White and the treatment plan I received in 5 minutes from a NP was much more thorough and offered great solutions for my concerns with flying in particular.

Let's hope you don't get sick on a weekend or holiday and have to see an on-call physician at ADC. I love my pediatrician and the proximity of this location to me but am even considering moving my son because I don't want to give my business to ADC any longer. I will be disputing this bill, without a doubt.
